Telmological reserves

There are 5 telmological reserves in the Žemaitija National Park. Their total area is 436 ha / 1 077.4 ac.

The purpose of the protection of the Ertenis telmological reserve is to restore and preserve the ecosystem of the Ertenis bog with wetland and meadow habitats of European Community importance and protected species. The area of ​​the reserve is 81 ha / 200 ac.

Pakastuva telmological reserve was established in order to preserve the ecosystem of the Pakastuva bog with protected species, water and forest habitats of the European Community importance, nesting and feeding areas of protected birds, and communities of protected insects. The area of ​​the reserve is 60 ha / 148 ac.

The purpose of the protection of the Paparčiai telmological reserve is to preserve the bog woodlands and raised bog ecosystems with valuable biocenoses, protected species and habitats of the European Community importance. The area of ​​the reserve is 151 ha / 373 ac.

Siberija telmological reserve was established in order to preserve the complex structure of the Siberija lakeside marsh ecosystem with marsh, forest and meadow habitats of European Community importance and communities of protected species. The area of ​​the reserve is 83 ha / 205 ac.

The purpose of protection of the Užpelkiai telmological reserve is to restore and preserve the characteristic watershed Užpelkiai marsh complex with the complex of wetland habitats of European Community importance, as well as communities of protected species. The area of ​​the reserve is 61 ha / 150.7 ac.
